Re: Music Wednesdays

Does anyone have interest in concerts? Anyone want to be a concert-goer to a lot of things? Note: They'd primarily be indie shows, but live music is always fun... I'll make a list of upcoming shows if there's interest.

Re: Dedicated Weekday Thread

I'm back in Hinsdale, so I'd take part in movie night. If no one has anything in particular they want to see, I have a movie I've been meaning to watch for some time...

Re: Music Wednesdays

http://www.knoxroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/sufjan-stevens.jpg Sufjan Stevens released a surprise EP Friday , and it's wonderful. 60 minutes, 8 tracks, and you can listen to it free HERE . I also put it in the dropbox folder. However, it's five freaking dollars, so if you like it just buy it.

Re: Music Wednesdays

I've been listening to a little of the new Arcade Fire and it is HOT. Like Neon Bible hot. I agree, for the most part I really enjoy it. I'd say it's better than Neon Bible, but still not as good as Funeral. However, my buddy Kyle argues it's too obvious and linear of an album . He has a a point --...

Re: Websiting with the best of them

Left with only my phone to reply, but I'll reply soon enough. But I agree with Tyson that dismissing my argument (believe it or not, saying something deserves a dismissive wank is indeed an argument) was not cool, and I do think you immediately attack anything that has a hint of hipsterdom unfairly....

Re: Websiting with the best of them

Also, how'd this all get so personal? It's just arguing over music. Leave some of these comments out of here, I just wanted to say why green day is bad.

Re: Websiting with the best of them

Jeff, when was the last time you read rolling stone? It's just a name now, just like the Grammys. They're dinosaurs, shells of their former selves. You can't blindly trust rolling stone as the bible of music criticism. Maybe you once could, but that's in the past. So yes, I will question their judgm...

Re: Websiting with the best of them

Concept albums are a dime a dozen, but immensely popular and critically acclaimed concepts albums aren't. Not only did they try to create a pop-punk opera, they by all means did... and an award winning one at that. So your criticism truly says more about you than it does Green Day. But then again, ...

Re: Websiting with the best of them

If the site is basic, maybe you should shift your focus from coding and design to writing for the web. I dunno how much of that you do in your normal life but it could be a valuable skill in your career. Traditional writing techniques are not tailored for the 2-second internet attention span. While...

Websiting with the best of them

Alright all of you can Internet better than anyone I know, so here's the deal: I want to have a little pet project of creating a professional personal website because it seems like a fun way to avoid catastrophic depression while looking for a job. Plus, it would help build a better understanding of...

Tyson wrote:Have you seen their "new" band?
The first time I saw them I was like, "Oh, that's where No Doubt has been hiding."

I've come to realize that there are actually four different FreeCreditReport.com bands now. Good gravy they're awful.

Re: Music Wednesdays

No, I hate that we give the dead a fresh pass in America. I'm astonished at the outpouring of love for Yankees owner George Steinbrenner over the last week. Just a month ago, everyone had been ripping him for decades for ruining baseball. He went so far as to get moment of silence and then a standi...

Re: Music Wednesdays

I'm sorry I'm not cool enough to associate with poor douchey art students. I'm sure that they can push the boundaries of ironic t-shirt design and giant sunglasses without me. I have to do lame shit like contributing to society and making money. Maybe one day in the far future, I'll be able to atte...

Re: Music Wednesdays

As requested by Tyson, here's some more music. To start: http://cdn.pitchfork.com/media/T._A._2_email.jpg Titus Andronicus - The Monitor. They're a group from New Jersey full of angst and depression, but they make due by rocking the fuck out. The Monitor is pretty interesting, a double Civil War con...
